Fall Training Dates

KB Electronics, Inc. Manufacturer of AC Drives, DC Drives & Variable Speed Controls

We are pleased to announce the availability of training at our Coral Springs factory this fall. Training includes Penta Power and KB Genesis products. Training sessions are held in our on-site classroom. This classroom is equipped with lab benches and offers “hands on” learning of models of our speed controls, complete with metering and motors. Each class can accommodate up to eight students.

The two day class includes the basics of AC & DC motor speed controls. The course covers all our models, VFD, SCR, PWM and Battery. An agenda for the class can be found on the following page. Tours of the KB Factory and Engineering Department are also included.

This training is designed for outside and inside distributor sales personnel. The students will learn how to specify and sell all of our products. Extensive discussion of typical applications will be included. Course materials given to students will include distributor binders.

Training Dates:

October 10 & 11, 2013    Thursday 8:30AM to Friday 3:00PM

November 7 & 8, 2013     Thursday 8:30AM to Friday 3:00PM

December 5 & 6, 2013    Thursday 8:30AM to Friday 3:00PM

What is motor overload protection?

KB Electronics, Inc. Manufacturer of AC Drives, DC Drives & Variable Speed Controls

KB’s AC drives contain Motor Overload Protection (I²t) with RMS Current Limit (CL). The I²t function provides overload protection and prevents motor burnout. KB’s AC drives are UL approved as an electronic overload protector for motors.

With I²t, if the motor is overloaded to 120% of the motor nameplate rating, the I²t timer will start, triggering the drive to trip in 30 minutes. As the motor continues to experience an increase in load, the time it takes the drive to trip decreases. Finally, if the motor is overloaded to 160%, the drive will trip in six seconds. The CL factory settings are for a maximum overload of 160%, limiting the motor current and torque.

Some drive manufacturers do not have the current limit feature. During an extreme overload the I²t time is very short, which will cause an undesirable nuisance trip.

Introducing a new KBDF series digital drive

KB Electronics, Inc. Manufacturer of AC Drives, DC Drives & Variable Speed Controls

KB Electronics, Inc. expands their AC drive product line with the addition of the KBDF digital drive series.

Coral Springs, FL-May 13, 2013- KB Electronics, Inc. of Coral Springs, FL, a manufacturer of AC drives and DC drives from fractional through 5 horsepower expand their AC drive product offering with new digital drives. The KBDF Series of Adjustable Frequency Drives consist of fourteen inverter models rated for 1/8 to 5 horsepower motors. Drives are available for AC, PMSM, DC brushless, PSC, Shaded Pole, Universal and EC motors. These drives are housed in IP 20 enclosures and are available with a built-in CE approved AC Line Class “A” Industrial Standard RFI (EMI) Filter.

“We are pleased to continue to expand our AC drive offering." reports Alan Bueller, vice president sales, KB. “These digital drives allow us to offer models rated to 5 horsepower motors with a digital display and LED light indicators.”

These are ideal for OEM applications where digital programming and displays are required. The common sense programming (CSP) organizes parameters into easy to understand intuitive groups. The proprietary current limit software provides overload protection, prevents motor burnout and eliminates nuisance tripping. It is UL approved as an electronic overload protector for motors. The KBDF drive offers energy savings, using only the power the application requires. Replacing constant speed with variable speed will significantly reduce energy costs. GFCI software allows the equipment to operate with Ground Fault Circuit Interruption circuit breakers or outlets.

What is under voltage protection?

KB Electronics, Inc. Manufacturer of AC Drives, DC Drives & Variable Speed Controls

If the AC line voltage falls below specifications the drive cannot maintain the rated torque or power requirements. To prevent damage to the motor, the drive will shut down. When the voltage returns to a safe limit, the drive, depending on presets and programming, will automatically restart or may require a manual restart.
